Reliance Wimax Service is in a Mess

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I got to know about reliance starting their wimax service at New Delhi a few days ago and I called their call centre to apply for a new connection just to see how good or bad their service is and if the connection is reliable enough or not.. Well what followed next was not a surprise given the state of customer service Reliance has been providing .. The sales guys knew nothing about wimax and the guy who picked up my call actually asked me what this wimax thing was and I explained to him about it and he still didn’t have a clue on whats going on with it.. So in the end they took down my details and next day I got a call from their local direct selling agent who have also collected my docs and money but its been over a month and no sign of connection as yet.

VOIP using wimax phones

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Nokia will be launching their first ever wimax enabled phones some time next year and that nokia wimax phone will be capable of running external applications like skype and other voip softphones.

I am very very hopeful that voip will pick up in a big way in India once wimax enabled mobile devices are available at a reasonable price as voip calls will be literally free to call on other voip devices.

Wimax phones will most likely be a big hit in the India market and will prove to be a massive damage to the conventional gsm mobile operators cutting their customer base day by day.

Wimax broadband

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

India is on the verge of another broadband revolution and this time the old telephone lines or crappy exchnges will not be an excuse for preventing the rural areas from getting broadband at cheaper rates.. the buzz word is wimax :) Wimax has been launched in cities like Bangalore and Pune and is going to be launched in Mumbai soon.

Reliance wimax has received a very warm welcome from places where it has been launched and reliance wimax has plans to launch is countrywide very soon. Wimax is going to bring the prices of broadband connectivity down by a substantial amount as it doesnt have the last mile connectivity problem and dont need any wires. I will be looking farward for reliance wimax to be launched at New Delhi

Reliance broadband all set to launch wimax

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Although this is not a confirmed report but I will still share with you all whatever I know..  Reliance broadband is all set to launch wimax in India and this is not going to be a small one its massive with almost whole country covered at one go with an exception of J and K and a few north eastern states where there is too much insurgency.

Reliance wimax is surely going to bring down the cost of internet connections as it wont need any last mile wiring atall as it is all going to be wireless. The cost of equipent is still on the higher side but once wimax gets popular the volumes should be able to bring the prices down a bit to make it at par with adsl modems. I am hoping that reliance broadband brings wimax as soon as possible and the remore areas get connected to the internet at the earliest.

I just cant wait for wimax to be launched in Delhi. I have heard that wimax will be here in delhi before the end of this year and in January next year nokia will launch their first ever wimax enabled phone here in India which will allow us to stay connected to the internet on the move. The best thing about this wimax phone is that it will allow us to use voip on the move :)

Voip on the rise

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Voip is being widely used in India now and mostly people use to it make international calls but by the looks of it I think when wimax is launched and with the help of wimax phones it will be possible to use voip on the move which will obviously give it a big push. I wont be surprised if mobile phones go out or use due to the new wimax technology. I cant wait for wimax broadband as it will allow me to move around the city and still be able to stay connected all the time.

Broadband in India

Broadband in India is on the rise, there are many broadband providers and now there are signs of wimax and wifi services to be launched. This is a service which will be loved by many users, and has been a service which many people have been waiting for. There is no date as to when exactly this service will be launched in some places, but it is defiantly in the process. Cities like Bangalore already have this service.

WiMAX Broadband

Monday, June 4th, 2007

India is moving forward in the Broadband connections, and has now got a new mobile technology revolution with WiMAX. WiMAX is the only wireless broadband connection, which delivers the true speed of broadband. The broadband wireless service is something, which is a low cost technology, but the only difference is it provides a better and faster service. As the number of phone subscribers is increasing it only makes sense to have this service on phones, as more people use the Internet on the move.

Wireless broadband in North India

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

In the entire country the telephone infrastructure is all messed up with very old and unreliable cables in almost every old locality. With an exception o very new colonies an ADSL connection is not a very good idea given the fact that you will almost every day see downtime for one reason or the other.

The only solution to this problem as far as I can see is wimax which will eliminate the need of any cables to get connected and ill cover whole cities and towns almost like mobile phones do.Nokia is going to launch their first wimax enabled phone next year in the beginning and Motorola is also working on their wimax phone. Future does look bright for India.

Wimax is a killer technology

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Like a few other destructive technologies for example mobile phones just killed pages and they are virtually non existant.By the looks of it wimax will not only kill cable broadband and adsl businesses but also mobile phones may become thing of the past with people using voip for thier calls using thier wimax enabled mobile phones or shall we say hand held voip devices of voip phones. Its a very big possibility that voip will be very widely used using either skype or google talk or even yahoo messenger or may be some new voip client custom built for wimax phones.Video conferencing is also a possibility with wimax.

Broadband in India

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

In India broadband has come off age and things are getting better and better day by day. With wimax all set to be rolled out in the next couple of months every one is hoping that the entire nation will be covered by broadband service and we will fair better then even USA and UK as far as broadband availability is conserned. In UK only about 75% of the population can availa broadband as its not available in a lot of areas up north and even in south of England some areas are waiting for broadband to arrive. In India broadband with speeds of up to 75 mbps will be available to any one willing to pay for it throughout the nation very soon.

Wimax phones

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Nokia has announced thier new wimax enabled phone which will be launched some time next year in the first three months and Motorola is working on thier version of wimax phones as well so it will be interesting to see both the new wimax phones.

The reason I am so excited about wimax phones is that I would like to use wimax internet connection to make voip calls on the move :) I dont see any reason why this cannot be achieved with good results as the trials have shown that connection doesnt drop while moving although the speeds come down but it would stil be enough to carry packets required for voip.

Taj communications launching wimax in India

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

A friend of mine who lives in Agra called up today to tell me that he has recieved a pamphlet in post saying about taj communication launching wimax internet services in the near future subject to governments allotment of the required spectrum for wimax service transmission as the band which is proposed to be used world wide is presently being held by defence forces in India and they have no plans to let it go even for a price atleast for the time being.

Nokia wimax phone

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Nokia is going to launch thier first ever wimax enabled phone in India next year (2008) and I believe this will change the way people browse when on the move, Speeds will be much higher then any other platform like 3g or gprs.Cost of the phone is going to be less then the present 3g phones as wimax technology as I have heard is much more cheaper and less complicated.

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Most of the major isp’s in India are running wimax trials for the time being and all of them report success in the trials they are running and have plans to launch wimax on a very large scale with bsnl broadband even rumered to cover the whole country with its wimax umbrela in the near future.I would love to see the whole country covered by wimax as this will eleminate the use of mobile phones all together and voip will be the only thing used to make calls from every ones wimax enables phones :)

I have been waiting for this wimax broadband for so long now that I cant wait any more..  Its been announced that an unnamed company is going to launch wimax in the next 60 days ie 2 months. The speeds will be 2mbps to 75mbps and I wonder what I would use that much bandwidth for as I have never seen such speeds before. The fastest connection I have used is 24mbps in UK and I absolutely loved it.I cant wait for have a 75mbps connection at home in Delhi and as and when I get it I will not go to UK any more :) I will move to Delhi permanently provided the connection is stable and doesnt drop every now and then.
