New Generation War Bots

Filed under: Technology — VOIP @ 8:19 am

A new generation of war bots has been developed. This new robot is a fine combination of IRobot and Metal Storm, which is a purveyor of million-round-per minute electric gun. The first armed robot was armed with M249 light machine guns, which were used during Iraq war. The new war robot can be equipped with a variety of weapons, from non-lethal rubber bullets to grenade launchers. About 12 different Metal Storm weapons could be placed on the war bots platform at the same time. The Metal Storm guns fires the bullets electrically not physically. This makes it more lethal with accuracy. This war bots can be used at war fronts and for crowd controlling.

LEDs Now Used For Lighting Building

Filed under: Technology — VOIP @ 1:52 am

LEDs light emitting diodes are now the new trend for lighting whole of the buildings from inside as well as from outside. It is going to replace the conventional type of lighting systems, i.e., incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs. Till now, LEDs were used as tiny blinking red light on a DVD player, cellphones or other electronic devices, but now its application has increased its range to various technologies. It has already replaced the standard bulbs of traffic lights. The major advantage of using LEDs for lighting buildings is that there is no need to change the LED bulb for 20 years, it is also cost effective and saves lots of energy.

Fuel From Waste To Run Cars

Filed under: Cars, Technology — VOIP @ 2:34 pm

A well famous British chemical company called INEOS has patented a fuel produced from the municipal wastes, agricultural waste and organic commercial waste. The fuel so formed is called the bioethanol fuel. This is produced by first heating the waste to produce gases, which is fed to the bacteria to produce ethanol. This ethanol is then purified into a fuel. The biofuel so produced would prove to be a great relief for the vehicle owners due to the soaring prices of the fossil fuels. The fuel so produced has to be mixed with the fossil fuel to run the car primarily but would not be needed afterwards when the fuel will be produced in commercial quantities.

Charger Using The Power Of Wind

The new gizmo HY Mini Wind Turbine is an incredible peace of technology which uses the power of wind to generate energy. This portable charger is made up of a tiny turbine to generate energy and transfer it to the battery fitted on it. The power so generated can be used to power all sorts of gizmos like iPods, cellphones and digital cameras. This HY Mini is fitted with interchangeable adapters and has to just plug to make it work. This is one of the major examples of an eco-friendly gizmo using wind energy. This is so built that on no wind day, i.e., wind speed less than 5 kmph one can charge it using the mains.

Communicating Robofish Developed

Filed under: Technology — VOIP @ 2:44 pm

A new type of Robofish has been developed in order to monitor the migrations of large mammals and the diffusion of environmental pollutants. These robofishes are equipped with acoustic transmitters to communicate wirelessly with each other while underwater. This was done in order to create communication with the robofish when they are under water which is difficult when they are under water. These acoustic transmitters send sound waves to each other for communication. These robofish are also equipped with pressure sensors to monitor depth and 3-D compass. These are all powered with nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries. All these things make it good enough for survival underwater. Three robofish, weighing 6 pounds and 20 inch long are made.

Robotic Hand

Filed under: Technology — VOIP @ 10:46 am

European researchers have developed a robotic hand that can mimic the human hand in functions like it can grasp an egg, snap its finger, etc. This hand is controlled by a neural-network-based program modeled on the cerebelloum. This hand has a outer skin layer made from the carbon that is thin and flexible and that can change its resistance depending on pressure. This robotic hand can detect the shapes of an object, the amount of force and direction of force required to change the position of the object. The joints of the hand are controlled by 38 opposing motors. To develop such a hand, researchers had to take hundreds of MRI images of human hand.

Robot To Search For Illegal Immigrants

Filed under: Technology — VOIP @ 2:49 pm

Researchers of UK have developed a new technology to locate the illegal immigrants into the country. This technology is developed into a form of a robot of a brief case size. It is fitted with heartbeat detectors as well as biological, chemical and nuclear sensors in order to detect biological, chemical or nuclear threats that may be imported into the country. This robot is fitted with powerful searchlights and high-resolution video cameras which help in detailed search of the Lorries and coaches that enter the borders. This robot is named Hero. This robot helped last year in stopping over 18,000 illegal immigrants at the border and hence prove to be crucial in such areas.

The research on Artificial Cognitive Systems (ACS) has improved a lot in recent period. Under this project some researches are purely concentrating on vision of machine, some would be on spatial cognition and several others on the interaction level of human robots. This project has been named CoSy. Robots developed under this project can recognize the environment they are in by seeing the objects around them and can perform activities like placing objects here and there as per instructions.
