India still stuck with 256kbps benchmark
Friday, November 16th, 2007The government of India has yet again decided to keep the benchmark of 256kbps intact to differentiate broadband from slow internet services. There has been numerous proposals to change the limit to 512kbps like many other developed countries in Europe and North America have right now.
The governments decision comes in saying that they are trying to increase broadband connectivity in the country and dont want to restrict the isp’s in any way for the time being.
This decision comes as a defeat to the customer of isps in India and I am hoping that this decision is reconsidered very soon and the minimum limit is changed to 512kbps as soon as possible.
