A new system has been developed to get more accurate and in hand information related to hurricanes. The Vortex Objective Radar Tracking and Circulation (VOTRAC) system does the compiled work of a satellite, aircraft and individual Doppler Radars do and prepare the wind data on a storm every six minutes and gives the clear picture about the whereabouts of storm. This system can provide critical warnings during storms especially the major cyclones that could affect an inhabited area. The advantages are it can gather information about the storm before it strikes land. Another is it can even gather information which a storm-tracking aircraft can’t. It fills all the gaps that the above three systems fail in gathering information.

Panasonic has developed an eco-friendly bike that will help rides to go uphill with more ease. These bikes are powered with hybrid electric vehicle which will store power during the downhill ride. This bicycle is fitted with a dynamo in the front wheel which generates energy from the running wheel while going downhill and then this energy is transferred to the rechargeable battery fitted to the rear wheel. This bike also includes a series of sensors which can work out during the uphill course of the cyclist. This new bike is named Vivi RX-10S. The eco-friendly bike will soon be introduced into the Japanese markets by August and initial price estimated to be £700.

Robert Beam wanted to run car on something other than gas. Then he thought of using wood to run car which he was taught in school. Then he started to design his own system using wood to run car, which included a furnace to burn wood to any sort of scrap and a fan to help in burning. Then the wood is lightened, it burns and converts into coal that burn at 2400 degree F. Then it is reduced t o CO and H2. These gases are enrouted to the four-stroke engine, where it is burnt finally and converted into mechanical energy. Disadvantage is smells like charcoal barbeque but runs at 45 miles per hour.

Electricity supply in India is very low and this is something which needs to be asked to those who actually live in India and especially those who face the problem with regular power cuts. It was only yesterday that most of New Delhi faced problems with electricity and they were out of electricity for more than six hours. Well something which is not really acceptable, but the people living in Delhi are quite used to this, but lets hope this doesn’t happen during the summer seeing that that temperatures will be rising this year.

Messenger the spacecraft which is from Nasa’s Mercury will make a very close pass of Mercury. This will be the first space craft visit to the world in almost 33 years. This is yet the first of only three encounters which has been made with Mercury. The spacecraft Messenger will actually capture around 1,200 images. From these images the Nasa team will clearly be able to see the hemisphere with a much improved resolution. The images which will be received will be in different colours and filters and the reason for this will be so that the Nasa team get a clear idea of the composition of the surface.

The Carbon level has been increasing day by day due to fast growing industrialization and it is threatening to know that it is just to cross the danger mark. It has long been stated that 450 parts per million (ppm) represents a dangerous threshold for atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations in regard to climate change. Noted climate activist Bill McKibben traces the arbitrary manner in which this was arrived. He further reports that leading climate scientist Jim Hansen on the basis of more intensive observation of global warming as it unfolds, now proposes that the threshold for dangerous climate change is in fact 350 (ppm)!?So what you may ask? Humanity has already pushed carbon concentrations from 275 ppm to 383 ppm. Thus the world’s leading climate scientist has concluded we have already surpassed the point where global heating is dangerous, and is on the verge of becoming abrupt and run-away.

With global warming ice caps are melting and triggering earthquakes in many areas as broken pieces of ice, fall in several cubic kilometers in size creating disasters in every ways. But how many of us do really bother about this? How many of us really put conscious efforts to not to be a cause of it? Thanks to our technology everything has become computerized and we do not bother to think the after effects of things we do. Like we all know that when not in use television should be switched off rather than putting it on stand by mode… but do we really care to get up and switch it of???

Generally when living is concerned having an own flat in suburbs was not people preferred, none of the people wanted to buy a house in suburbs, as suburbs were known as side places with out any facilities around. This is one place where at least a high level professional never wanted to shift…but now it’s the other way round all the high level people want to settle down in suburbs and have their own flats or houses there cause its no more a side place, rather much better than the city. Things and thoughts keep changing with the time and it’s always better to invest your hard earned money in the right place.

Once when we were in Gujarat. We were sitting in the bedroom. My husband and me we had just finished with our breakfast and were talking as my hubby was lying on the bed and me sitting next to him. I felt as if the bed was shaking I told my hubby why are you shaking the bed he said he wasn’t but I again could feel the same. This time I shouted at him to not do it again but he insisted that he wasn’t doing it I thought he was kidding but the third time when even he realized it was shaking we ran towards our kids as we realized it was an earthquake.

Pollution is a very wide term these days. It has many types now. The most popular is the air pollution. The exhausts coming out from the vehicles and the chimneys of industrial houses cause it. Another concern is water pollution .The affluent from industries is often released into the rivers thereby polluting the ground and rivers. Noise pollution is not far in the list .it is caused by blaring noise made by the vehicles… honking horns and un kept engines. Ground pollution is caused when garbage containing non-decomposing elements is disposed off in the open grounds here and there.

There is endless space beyond the reach of the earth’s atmosphere. The Universe is endless. One can never know what and how much is there in the Universe. The distances cannot be measured or even estimated correctly. The kilometers and the miles become useless when it comes to the outer space. The nearest star is some four and a half light years away from the earth. That is it is far, far away. We can’t imagine reaching there with the best of the technology we have on earth.

The place where I live gets at least three power cuts every day at random with no prior information and each cut lasts about two hours. I am used to power cuts as I have spent my childhood in Delhi but it never used to be so many cuts in a day and t just gets a bit too annoying at times so I have come out with a solution I just go out in my car when there is a power cut and spend those two hours in my car with air conditioning on and work in my car using my laptop.

Trees are the lifeline of the organisms on the earth. If there are no trees left, the earth will not be able to support any kind of life on its surface. The needs of oxygen, food and shelter are fulfilled due to the trees only. If the trees are gone, gone is every living being. The earth will turn into a desert and life will perish from this planet may be forever.

The trees are a gift of nature to the whole world. The trees are the most useful natural living beings. Although they do not move and speak or make noise still we know that they are living. The trees should be taken care of and they will take care of us. They do the most important work of giving us the pure and fresh air by recycling the carbon dioxide and providing us with oxygen for life.

These days we do not get enough of the greenery to see around in the cities. Our eyes get starved of the nature’s most abundant color which is good for eyes and relaxing for the mind. There are only some places like the parks to go and have a treat of greenery if one wants to. There has to be at least some time for everyone to go to the nature. The best way is then to go out and have a walk in some joggers’ park everyday.

The rivers today are not the water bodies for the safe drinking water as they used to be once. They have now become the waste disposal solutions of the metros and the industries. There is a lot of filth and chemical waste being dumped into the rivers. The water is thus very unfit for drinking. This water first has to be cleaned and then supplied to the various houses for use.

It is a good idea to use the rain water for the drinking purpose. It can de done through the rain water harvesting. The rain water is stored in the ponds and the tanks during the rainy season and can be used later at the time of water scarcity. This is useful only where there is a surety of the rain to occur regularly in every rainy season.

The ozone layer around the earth’s atmosphere is damaged due to the human activities. The harmful gases containing the chlorofluorochemicals can damage it. There has been a considerable damage done to it during the last few decades. There are a few holes reported to have been made in the ozone layer. These holes have been done due to the exhausts of the industry using these types of the chemicals.
