Bsnl wimax

Monday, December 24th, 2007

A few members at the forum posted some messages saying BSNL has launched their wimax services in Gujrat and this will cover the whole of Gujrat even smaller towns and villages. The wimax trials have been going on for more then a year now at ten different locations but this is going to be the first commercial rollout by bsnl wimax.

Bsnl has a problem of slow speeds in remote areas where telephone exchanges are more then 6-7 kilometers away so this wimax roll out will be the best thing to happy in those area as it will provide a wireless connection and will not be dependent on the quality and distance of adsl exchanges.

Bsnl wimax being a government undertaking will surely keep the prices a bit lower then its private sector counterparts which will compel private players to bring their prices down as well which will help the consumer in a big way.

Mobile broadband

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Bsnl has announced their new data cards which are due to be launched any time next year and will have speeds as high as 2Mbps which you can use while traveling as well and will be much faster then most broadband connections available. This is going to be such a great thing for those like me who need the internet on the go all the time. I am not sure if bsnl data cards will actually provide such high speeds but even if its 1/4th the claimed speed I will be a happy bunny :)

I cant wait for this new data card thing to be launched.. I might even consider moving to Dehradun and live there in peace for a while away from the New Delhi rush.
