Communicating Robofish Developed
A new type of Robofish has been developed in order to monitor the migrations of large mammals and the diffusion of environmental pollutants. These robofishes are equipped with acoustic transmitters to communicate wirelessly with each other while underwater. This was done in order to create communication with the robofish when they are under water which is difficult when they are under water. These acoustic transmitters send sound waves to each other for communication. These robofish are also equipped with pressure sensors to monitor depth and 3-D compass. These are all powered with nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries. All these things make it good enough for survival underwater. Three robofish, weighing 6 pounds and 20 inch long are made.
