VOIP getting cheaper in India
Indian government has relaxed some rules in favor of voip service providers which has resulted into a steep fall in prices we pay for making a call into India from anywhere in the world. The telecoms regulatory authority is planning on making call termination charges at par with USA which will bring down the call charges to less then 1 cent per min which is at present more then 5 cents.
I remember the days when it used to cost more then 25 pence per min to call India which is about Rs20 per min or 50 cents American which was a bit too much to pay.. One would be better off taking a flight to Delhi instead of spending a few hours on the phone.
