Microprocessor Company Intel is likely to launch yet another version of their four-core processor in January.
This would be yet another attempt to stay ahead of the competition (AMD) as they aim to capture the market for next-generation processor family.
Intel is expected to launch the Core 2 Quad chip for high-end desktop PCs during the CES trade show in Las Vegas in January.
This new processor would join the already launched quad-core Xeon 5300 for servers and Core 2 Extreme QX6700 for gamers.
The company is likely to target this processor at a broader segment of mainstream users. Thought the chip would be a suitable candidate for processor-intensive, highly threaded programs.
The FCC has approved new rules which would make it easier for the telecom companies in the United States to enter the cable television market.
The ruling was supported by three Republican commissioners but faced opposition from two Democrats commissioners.
This ruling is good news for major telecom companies in the region including Verizon Communications and AT&T. both of these companies have spent a fortune on deploying fiber optic cable networks in their respective territories.
FCC Chairman Kevin Martin spoke on this ruling: “As new providers began actively seeking entry into video markets. We began to hear that some local authorities were making the process of getting franchises unreasonable difficult.â€
Commissioner Michael Copps opposed the ruling saying: “Right now this nation is hobbled because it has no such strategy, no plan for the infrastructure build-out our people need to be productive and competitive citizens of the world.â€
He said that the country needs to establish a national strategy to provide nationwide broadband.
